For over 20 years, I've dedicated my life to serving others, strengthening our community, and bringing people together.

Born and raised in Jamaica, I came to Canada to build a better future for my family. Like so many newcomers to Ward 1, I saw tremendous opportunity in Oshawa.

In 2006, I made a decision that would shape the rest of my life, deciding not just to live here but to help build a better city.

A proven record of community service

I helped revive the Canadian Jamaican Club of Oshawa after it had been inactive for nearly ten years. As President for over a decade, I led a group that helped to transform the organization into one that focused on education, youth development, cultural celebration, scholarships, and community partnerships. We established weekend tutoring programs for at-risk youth, bringing in professional teachers who volunteered to help students improve in math, English, and French. Our organization also hosted annual Christmas toy drives and helped bring joy to hundreds of children and families across Oshawa.

My commitment to our city extends beyond community organizations

Between 2007 and 2008, I stood with the Durham College Student Council to advocate for the development of purpose-built student housing. At the time, the shortage of student accommodations created significant challenges for students attending Durham College and Ontario Tech University. Today, these residences support thousands of students and have contributed to Oshawa's growth.

As strong communities are built on trust and understanding, I also worked closely with the Durham Regional Police Service to strengthen relationships between police and diverse communities across Oshawa and Durham Region. Together, we developed community initiatives, including the annual Black History Month Kick-off Celebration, which brought together residents, police officers, small businesses, community organizations, and elected officials to build lasting relationships.

My commitment to helping vulnerable members of the community also led to partnerships with Simcoe Hall Settlement House, helping support women and families experiencing domestic violence.

Education is one of my greatest passions

Through both the Canadian Jamaican Club of Oshawa and the Multicultural Council of Durham Region, I helped establish scholarships that have enabled scores of young people to pursue college or university education.

I am proud to have served as the Interim President of the Multicultural Council of Durham Region, which continues to promote collaboration and opportunity across Oshawa's diverse ethnic communities.

Recently, I served as President of the Rotary Club of Oshawa, leading local and international service projects that improved lives here in Oshawa and around the world.

Earning your trust and support

I'm seeking your support to represent Ward 1 because I believe our neighbours need a more cooperative, more responsive representative at City Hall who's focused on improving Oshawa as a whole, rather than the pursuit of personal pet projects or issues that fall outside our municipal scope.

In my professional life, I am the owner and principal of a successful mortgage brokerage. I lead a team of agents and brokers who help local families and individuals realize the dream of homeownership, an area in which our city must do much more in the next four years.

My background in finance, lending, business management, and strategic planning has provided me with the toolset required to serve you at City Hall.

I believe that core city services should be protected, waste should be eliminated, and every tax dollar must be respected. Your new Council must seek efficiencies before asking taxpayers to pay more.

I will listen carefully to you and make practical, responsible decisions in support of responsible growth, safer neighbourhoods, and stronger community bonds.
